Wikipedia Edit-a-Thon: Tasks

Tasks

This page lists and explains the different types of activities you can do during the edit-a-thon to make a difference in the representation of cis and trans women on Wikipedia. Different tasks will take different amounts of time and will require different levels of experience. Creating a new article is a wonderful thing to do, but it will likely require time, research, and some Wikipedia editing skills. Keep in mind that tasks like adding citations and links are very important in closing the Wikipedia gender gap.

For any overview of all the tasks you can do on Wikipedia, visit the Wikipedia Task Center.

Add Links / De-Orphan Articles

In the Wikipedia glossary, an orphan is defined as "an article with no links from other pages in the main article namespace". These pages can still be found by searching Wikipedia, but it is preferable that they can also be reachable by links from related pages; it is therefore helpful to add links from other suitable pages with similar and/or related information. De-orphaning articles is an important aspect of building the web. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Orphan) This is a really great, simple way for new editors to contribute to Wikipedia!
